In the wake of breaking not one, but two school hurdles records, and success against bigger school competition at the at the Texas Relays, the Taylor boys and girls track and field teams look to face off against district foes this Wednesday and Thursday, April 6-7, as Taylor hosts the 19-4A district meet.

The district meet will be the second meet of the season hosted by Taylor. Back on March 10, Taylor hosted their annual Cotton Boll Relays where Ducks and Lady Ducks shined against the competition.

“Leading up to the district meet we will continue to work hard and fine tune our handoffs. District is just another meet on our schedule. We train for state,” said Shelli Cobb, Taylor girls track and field coach. “I never want my girls to peak at district. We will continue to push and build to advance. I’m super proud of my girls.”

Taylor will be competing against the schools of Burnet, Georgetown Gateway Prep, Lake Belton, Jarrell and Salado.

The district meet starts at 10 a.m. with the junior varsity girls pole vault and shot put, junior varsity boys high jump and discus, varsity boys triple jump and varsity girls long jump.

At 11:30 a.m., the second block of events begin with junior varsity boys long jump, junior varsity girls triple jump, varsity boys pole vault and discus, and varsity girls shot put.

After lunch, the junior varsity boys pole vault and shot put take place along with the junior varsity girls discus and high jump along, with the varsity boys long jump and varsity girls triple jump.

At 2:30 p.m., the final events will include junior varsity boys triple jump, junior varsity girls long jump, varsity boys high jump and shot put, and varsity girls pole vault and discus.

The running preliminaries commence at 5 p.m. The order of runs will be junior varsity girls, junior varsity boys, varsity girls and varsity boys with the exception of the hurdles event.
