The Taylor Lady Ducks softball team suffered a 7-5 loss to the Lampasas Badgers on Wednesday, March 12, after surrendering seven runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Taylor took an early lead, scoring twice in the second inning on an RBI single from freshman Mia Bendure and an error to go up 2-0. Freshman Payton Burrow started in the circle, throwing six scoreless innings before Lampasas’ late rally.
The Lady Ducks extended their lead in the fourth when sophomore Adriana Concha delivered a two-run double, making it 4-0. Concha led Taylor with three RBIs. Burrow added to the lead in the fifth with an RBI double, putting the Lady Ducks ahead 5-0.
Lampasas’ comeback began with a double and four consecutive singles, cutting the deficit to 5-2. A sacrifice fly made it 5-3 with two outs. A walk and a single tied the game before the Badgers took the lead on a two-run double.
Taylor had a chance to respond in the bottom of the seventh, putting runners on first and second with two outs, but a lineout ended the game.
The Lady Ducks dropped to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in district play. They will look to bounce back when they host Jarrell on Tuesday, March 18, at noon.
