Lady Lions dominate Bulldogs 10-0

GRANGER — The Granger Lions varsity softball team secured a dominant 10-0 shutout victory over Bartlett on Monday, March 10.

Junior pitcher Ariana Herrera delivered an outstanding performance, throwing a complete game while allowing just one hit and striking out 13.

The Lady Lions took an early lead in the bottom of the first when freshman catcher Rylinn Hamby hit an RBI double to put Granger on the board. A sacrifice fly later in the inning extended the lead to 2-0. The Bulldogs went down in order in the top of the second, and Granger continued to build momentum in the third. Junior Izzy Tavernier drove in a run with an RBI triple, followed by an RBI single from junior Abigail Crouch, pushing the lead to 4-0. A flyout later in the inning brought another runner home to make it 5-0.

Tavernier added to her strong performance with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, extending the lead to 7-0. Tavernier went 3-of-4 from the plate with 3 RBIs. The Lady Lions sealed the win with three more runs in the sixth to secure the run-rule victory.

Granger improved to 5-4-1 overall and 2-0 in district play. The Lady Lions will face Thorndale on Tuesday, March 11, before hosting Bremond on Tuesday, March 18, at 6 p.m.
