LITTLE RIVER ACADEMY — The Thrall Tigerettes avenged an earlier 13-3 loss to Little River Academy with a 4-0 shutout victory on Thursday, March. 6.
Junior pitcher Miley Pokorny worked her way out of multiple jams, stranding several Bumblebees in scoring position with clutch pitches. Pokorny threw a complete seven innings giving up seven hits with eight strikeouts.
Thrall took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, scoring on a double from Junior Riley Luton and a defensive error. Luton finished 2-of-4 at the plate with one RBI. Senior Mikayla Velasquez extended the lead to 3-0 with a solo home run in the second inning. Freshman Piper Hernandez added an insurance run in the sixth with an RBI single to secure the win.
Thrall improved to 8-7 overall and 1-1 in district play. The Tigerettes will also face Franklin in a homeand- home series on Tuesday, March 11, and Thursday, March 13, at 7 p.m.
