GEORGETOWN – Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell on Tuesday resigned as the county’s top executive after accepting a role in the Trump administration.
Gravell, a Republican, was appointed Precinct 3 justice of the peace in 2013 before being elected county judge in 2018. Gravell told fellow members of the Williamson County Commissioners Court of his plans during the government body’s regular meeting March 11.
He has accepted a position as the Region 6 advocate for the office of advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration – an area covering Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
During his tenure with the county, he showcased his longtime mission to reform the property tax/appraisal system. Gravell made an appearance at the meeting for a photo but was not on the dais.
Supporters said Gravell was instrumental in bringing Samsung Austin Semiconductor to Taylor and helping lead trade delegations to South Korea, Samsung’s home country, to encourage more high-tech development in Williamson County.
The Press will provide further details as they become available.
