The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer teams secured a pair of victories over Rockdale on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Boys
The Ducks earned a hard-fought 5-4 win in penalty kicks after regulation ended in a 2-2 tie. Taylor led 2-1 late in the second half with goals from Paco Sanchez and Jesus Don Juarez, but Rockdale equalized to force penalty kicks. The Ducks sealed the victory after goalkeeper Cooper Mendoza made a crucial save.
With the win, Taylor improved to 8-4 in district play as it continues its push for a postseason berth. The Ducks will host Caldwell on March 4 at 5:30 p.m.
Girls
The Lady Ducks secured a 2-0 win over Rockdale in a more decisive fashion. Freshman Sam Schroeder and sophomore Analisa Arredondo each scored, while sophomore Ivonne Hernandez added an assist.
With the victory, Taylor clinched a postseason spot and improved to 10-2 in district play, sitting third in the standings behind Giddings and Salado. The Lady Ducks will host Caldwell on March 4 at 7:30 p.m.
