A check totaling more than $12,000 presented to Baylor Scott & White Health-Taylor at a recent luncheon is being used to fund important medical needs, officials said.

Members of Taylor Communities Connected hosted the event and outlined how the gift of $12,151 would be used to benefit health care at the hospital.

Taylor Communities Connected presented a check to Latoya Duffey of Baylor Scott & White Health-Taylor during a recent luncheon, with the gift funding medical equipment.

The first amount, for $7,151, provided a vein finder, which helps medical staff visualize veins during blood draws and IV insertions.

The second was a $5,000 donation to cardiovascular excellence at the BSW Taylor Clinic to expand its cardiology services.

TCC meets quarterly for luncheons, with supporters pooling their annual membership dues to support the clinic and medical center.

The latest presentation was held earlier this month.

Current members include Charlotte Albert, Eloise Brackenridge, Candy Buzan, Susan Faykus, Sandy Ford, Rosemary Hauser, Betty Hile, Ella Jez, Dallas Kelley, Susan Komandosky, Kara Pinnelli, and Nancy Snead.

The next luncheon is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 4 at Temple College, 516 N. Main St.
