Working with Williamson County Commissioner Russ Boles, Williamson County Farm Bureau (WCFB) is coordinating a nonprofit relief fund for rural residents of Williamson County impacted by tornados that hit Williamson County March 21.

“At its meeting on Monday, March 28, the Williamson County Farm Bureau board of directors approved $25,000 to start the fund, and we expect significant additional contributions from major corporations,” said Bob Avant, Williamson County Farm Bureau president.

Contributions can be provided to the fund by making checks payable to Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation, although abbreviations can be used. The memo line should read “Williamson County Rural Relief Fund.” Checks should be mailed to Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation, Williamson County Rural Relief Fund, P.O. Box 2689, Waco, TX 76702-2689, Attn: Chris Daughtery.

Checks can also be personally delivered to the Williamson County Farm Bureau office at 2301 N. Main St. in Taylor.

A temporary board has been established to set criteria and to approve distribution of funds to rural residents who have been impacted by the tornados. Board members are Bob Avant, WCFB president; Scott Heselmeyer, attorney and county treasurer; Marc Gray, Granger chief of police, Nathan Carlton, Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine; and Laura Rinderknecht, Williamson County Equipment.

The deadline for submission of applications is May 31. Funds will be distributed by June 30. Applications for monetary assistance will be available on Monday, April 4, at the Williamson County Farm Bureau Office or by contacting Susan Pick at 512-365-5212.
