Senior outfielder Mia Sanchez led Hutto at the plate, going 4-for-4 with an RBI.

Hutto’s pitching struggled early as Stony Point hit a two-run homer in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers extended their advantage in the second with a four-run inning that included two more home runs and an RBI single.

Despite the early 6-0 deficit, the Hippos continued to battle, scoring in the bottom of the second on an RBI double from senior Makenzie Klos.

Stony Point added to its lead with a three-run homer in the fourth and a solo shot in the fifth. The Hippos fought back in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 10-3 after RBI singles from sophomore Lexi Garcia and junior Kenna Spence.

Down to their final three outs, the Hippos mounted a last-inning rally.

Martinez led off with a home run to make it 10-4.

Hutto then loaded the bases with one out after three walks, and another walk forced in a run to make it 10-5.

An error by the Tigers brought home two more, cutting the lead to 10-7.

A fielder’s choice made it 10-8, but a lineout to right field ended the comeback.
