THRALL — The Thrall Tigerettes varsity softball team erupted for eight runs in the fifth inning to secure a 10-0 runrule victory over the Somerville Yeguas on Monday, Feb. 17.
Junior pitcher Miley Pokorny delivered a dominant performance in the circle, throwing five shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out 11. The game began as a pitching duel, with both teams scoreless through the first two innings. Thrall broke the stalemate with a run in both the third and fourth innings, taking a 2-0 lead. Given Pokorny’s performance, that may have been enough, but the Tigerettes’ bats came alive in the fifth to put the game away.
Freshman Piper Hernandez led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while junior Riley Lupton went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and her first home run of the season.
With the win, Thrall improved to 3-5 on the season and will return to action Feb. 20-21 in the Round Rock High School Tournament.
