The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer teams went 2-0 against La Grange on Friday, Feb. 14.
The Ducks earned a muchneeded 1-0 victory over the Leopards, snapping a skid in which they had lost four of their last five games. It was a defensive battle, with both teams keeping each other off the board in the first half. Taylor eventually broke through with a second-half goal from Rivaldo Granados to secure the win.
The Ducks improved to 5-6-1 overall and are now tied for fourth place in the district standings with a 5-4 record. They return to action Tuesday, Feb. 18, against Smithville before hosting Giddings on Friday, Feb. 21, at 7:15 p.m.
Girls
The Lady Ducks picked up another win, defeating La Grange 2-0. Taylor scored one goal in each half, with sophomores Kaitlyn Crane and Analisa Arredondo each finding the net. Senior Alexandra Rebollar-Cruz and freshman Sam Schroeder recorded the assists.
Taylor improved to 12-4 overall and 8-1 in district play, sitting one game behind Salado. The Lady Ducks face Smithville on Tuesday, Feb. 18, before traveling to Giddings on Friday, Feb. 21, at 7:15 p.m.
