Heritage Square Farmers Market

The Farmers Market is typically every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St. in Taylor. For updates, visit https://www.facebook.com/heritagesquarefarmersmarket.

Third Thursday

Every third Thursday of each month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open past 5 until 8 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to shop locally and become familiar with the shops in the downtown area.

COVID-19 & Flu Vaccines

The Williamson County and Cities Health District will have a walk-in clinic for COVID-19 and flu vaccinations every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Taylor building is located at 115 W. 6th St., one block from Main Street north of downtown Taylor. Tax Assistance

The Taylor Public Library, 801 Vance St., is hosting two tax assistance programs free of charge.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) will be on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. VITA takes walk-ins only. No reservations required.

AARP Tax Assistance will be available Wednesdays noon to 4 p.m., but online reservations are required for this service.

BBQ fundraiser

Saturday, April 2 — To help victims of the Granger-area tornado, the Great Granger Tornado Relief BBQ Plate Fundraiser will be from noon to 5 p.m. at the Cotton Country Club, 212 E. Davilla St. in Granger. There will be live music as well. Plates will be $10, although those most affected by the storm can come for a complimentary meal.

Pet adoption

Saturday, April 2 — The National Honor Society chapter of Legacy Early College High School is sponsoring a pet adoption event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Heritage Square Farmers Market. Dog adoption fees are $80. Cat adoptions are $40, which include spay and neuter, rabies vaccination and a microchip.

Vegetable growers

Wednesday, April 6 — The Williamson County AgriLife Extension Service will offer a vegetable growers conference from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SPJST Hall, 5025 FM 619 in Taylor. Pre-registration is required at https://williamson. agrilife.org/events. The program is $10.

Golf tourney

Friday, April 8 — The Rotary Club of Taylor will host a golf tournament with a tee time of noon. The tournament will be held at the Mustang Creek Country Club in Taylor. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/ TaylorRotaryClub76574.

Bicycle blessing

Sunday, April 9 — Area bicyclists can get their two-wheel vehicles blessed at New Sweden Lutheran Church, 12809 New Sweden Cburch Road in Manor, at 10:30 a.m.

Food drive

Sunday, April 10 — A Psalm Sunday Community Food Drive will be from 4 to 5 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church parking lot, 401 West Seventh Street in Taylor. The food drive will benefit Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry and Community Ministries.

Plant swap

Sunday, April 23 — The Friends of the Taylor Public Library will host a plant swap at the library, 801 Vance St. in Taylor. People can bring plants at 10 a.m., and swapping will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free, and all children will get a free plant. There will be master gardeners throughout the day, along with informal gardening advice circles.

5K, 10K, more

April 30-May 1 — The Hippo Stampede will be a virtual race with proceeds benefitting Hutto community scholarships. To register, visit bit.ly/hippostampede22. For more information, including how to be a sponsor, email [email protected]
