GIDDINGS — The Granger Lions varsity boys basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 47-35 victory over the Bartlett Bulldogs on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Senior guard Isaac Campos led all scorers with 16 points, while junior guard Kael Jackson added eight. The win secured Granger a 10-2 record in district play, placing the Lions second in the final district standings.

With the regular season behind them, the Lions now turn their attention to the postseason, where they will face the Weimar Wildcats in the bi-district round on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Granger enters the matchup riding a strong wave of momentum, having won eight of its last nine games.

The Lions have averaged 47.7 points per game this season, with Campos, Jackson, and junior guard Kye Welles leading the offensive charge.

Weimar presents a formidable challenge, boasting a similar offensive output at 50 points per game. The Wildcats are led by senior forward Zach Norrall and senior guard Camden Morrison, both of whom have been key contributors throughout the season. Defensively, both teams have excelled, each allowing fewer than 40 points per game.

One key factor in the matchup will be Weimar’s ability to create turnovers and convert them into fast-break points. Granger will need to take care of the ball and control the tempo to counter the Wildcats’ opportunistic defense.

In addition to advancing in the playoffs, the Lions will be seeking a measure of redemption for the Granger girls team, which fell to Weimar 52-42 on Monday, Feb. 10. Tipoff for the bi-district clash is set for 6 p.m. at Giddings High School.
