Ducks split district matches against Titans

The Taylor Ducks varsity soccer teams split their games against Manor New Tech, as the boys fell 1-0 while the girls secured a 4-1 victory over the Titans.

Boys

The Ducks fell in a tough defensive game as both teams kept each other off the scoreboard for most of the match.

However, Manor New Tech broke the tie with what would be the deciding goal. Taylor’s offensive struggles continued, as this marked the second consecutive game in which it went scoreless. The Ducks fell to 4-4 in district play and will look to bounce back against La Grange on Friday before traveling to Smithville on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7:15 p.m.

Girls

The Lady Ducks started similarly to the boys, failing to score in the first half as the Titans took a 1-0 lead into halftime. However, freshman Samantha Schroeder had other plans, scoring four goals in the second half to power Taylor to a 4-1 victory. Sophomore Analisa Arredondo assisted on three of the goals. The win was much needed, as the Lady Ducks bounced back from a 6-0 loss to Salado. Taylor improved to 7-1 in district play and will be back in action against La Grange on Friday, Feb. 14, before hosting Smithville on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7:15 p.m.
