Hutto hires Reinhart as head football coach

HUTTO — The Hutto Independent School District has hired North Crowley offensive coordinator Eli Reinhart as its new head football coach, replacing former head coach and current district athletic coordinator Will Compton. The district announced the hire Tuesday evening via its Facebook page.

“There’s going to be energy in this program. There’s going to be excitement. On top of that, there’s going to be a lot of hard work,” Reinhart said. “There are high expectations for our players; not only in our program but also in the classroom. It’s about creating better student-athletes and building the strongest program possible for our kids to

develop.” Reinhart, 31, has already built an impressive résumé. He helped lead North Crowley to an undefeated season and a Class 6A-Division I state championship with his offense averaging 54 points per game. He was also named the 2024 Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Offensive Coordinator of the Year.

Reinhart shared what drew him to the Hutto job.

“A big part of it was Superintendent Jeni Neatherlin,” he said. “She was a big reason I was interested in the job because she is such an advocate for athletics and how they impact student- athletes. That was something I wanted to be a part of.”

Hutto’s offense has been productive in recent years, averaging more than 35 points per game. However, the Hippos have struggled defensively. Reinhart acknowledged those challenges and outlined his plan to improve the defense.

“We’re going to be aggressive. We’ll do some things on defense that are a little unorthodox, but I believe the person we bring in to run the defense will have great control and give our kids a chance every Friday night to get stops,” he said.

Reinhart’s next steps include meeting with coaches and evaluating the current staff, though he does not expect a complete overhaul.

Hutto fans can meet Reinhart at 5:30 p.m. Monday outside the Hutto High School fieldhouse.
