Residents have one more week to submit candidate applications for the open city council and school board seats in the May 3 election.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14.
Since Jan. 29, one more candidate has entered the race for Taylor City Council District seat 4, currently held by Robert Garcia — Shannon Quicksall.
Garcia announced on social media he is not seeking reelection.
Other candidates for the District 1 spot include Heather Pacharzina Long, Gordon Pettey and Patrick V. Hackeling.
Meanwhile, Greg Redden has announced his intention to run for District 1, a seat on the dais currently held by Gerald Anderson.
In Hutto, Jim Morris entered the race against Cory Denena for Randal Clark’s Place 3 seat.
Incumbent Hutto Mayor Mike Snyder and Place 6 Councilwoman Amberley Kolar are running for reelection.
No new candidates have filed to compete against board Vice President Shannon Jacobs and Terrence Owens for the Hutto Independent School District’s three open seats.
Meanwhile, Taylor Independent School District school board Assistant Secretary Cheryl Carter, who currently holds Place 3, has filed for reelection alongside board President Marco Ortiz, currently in Place 4.
Places 3, 4 and 5 are up for grabs on the Taylor school board.
Terms are for three years.
