The Taylor Ducks girls varsity basketball team picked up a pivotal victory 43-26 over the Marble Falls Mustangs on Friday, Jan. 31. Junior guard Aubriana Alderete led the team with 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting.
The Ducks were down 10-6 in the first quarter, but a threepointer from Alderete made it 10-9. Taylor went into the second quarter with a 12-10 advantage. Senior guard Molli Kennick hit a three to extend the lead to 15-10.
Both teams traded scores back and forth but the Ducks were able to build an insurmountable lead after three-pointers from junior Kioynah Rivers and Alderete made it 35-23 in the fourth quarter. Senior guard Sophia Fisher made an impact during this stretch totaling 10 points.
The Ducks would close out the game with a stellar fourthquarter defensive performance from Sophomore forward Tianna Candee who had two blocks and two steals. Taylor remained ranked fourth in the district standings with a 4-5 record.
The Ducks will hope to solidify its postseason seeding when it travels to Salado on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
