AUSTIN — Candidates wishing to serve on the board of Education Service Center Region 13 have until Feb. 20 to file an application.
Two spots are open. Applicants can file either in person or through certified mail at the Region 13 administrative office, 5701 Springdale Road, Austin, TX 78723.
Candidates must live in one of the counties served by Region 13, including Williamson and Travis counties. Milam County residents must live within the Thorndale Independent School District attendance zone.
The Place 3 position is currently held by Tom Bowman of Hays County and Dennis Hill of Llano County holds the Place 6 spot.
“Education service center board of directors are elected by school district board of trustees in each region at the first regular or special board meeting held between March 1 and April 5,” Rich Elasser, executive director of the center, noted in a prepared release.
Terms are for three years beginning June 1.
Candidates must be 18 or older, a U.S. citizen and a resident of the region.
“They must not be engaged professionally in education or a member of a board of any education agency or institution,” Elasser added.
