Ketanji Brown Jackson is an American attorney and jurist who has served as a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit since 2021. She is a current nominee for the Supreme Court, awaiting confirmation in the Senate.
Here are some facts about Ketanji Brown Jackson. She is not an advocate of critical race theory or other progressive ideas about education. She has never taken a public position on hot-button school issues like whether young children should be taught about gender identity.
As a federal judge, she has a mainstream record, broadly typical of a Democratic nominee. She has often praised law enforcement, including her proud mention this week that her brother and two of her uncles worked as police officers.
Several Republican senators — including Josh Hawley, Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz have tried to portray her as soft on child pornographers. Their argument depends on misleading facts from cases she has heard – New York Times, March 25, 2022.
These senators are trying to get a voice in for their future political careers. Their questions had little to do with her Supreme Court ability. Jackson has served as an assistant federal public defender, commissioner on the U.S. Sentencing Commission, a lawyer in private practice and on two prestigious federal courts.
I would hope that you readers understand that the truth is there if you want it vs false narratives and sound bites from aspiring politicians such as Cruz.
Ketanji Brown deserves a fair treatment. She has earned her place in history and needs to be allowed to sit with those men and women now on the Supreme Court.
As Senator Cory Booker says it,” You have earned this spot. You are worthy. You are a great American.”
