CEDAR PARK — Hutto Hippos girl wrestler Abigail Gallardo won the 2025 UIL District 13-6A 114pound championship on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Vista Ridge High School, becoming the first girl in Hutto High School history to secure gold at the event.
Gallardo, who has had an outstanding season, received a bye in the first round but dominated the competition the rest of the way. She won by 19-1 technical fall via the mercy rule in the second round and followed with a 21-2 technical fall that culminated in a pin. Gallardo secured the district title after her opponent forfeited in the finals.
She will compete in the UIL regional tournament next weekend in San Antonio.
