The Taylor Ducks boys soccer team came up short in two close matches this weekend, falling to Giddings and Rockdale.
On Friday, Jan. 24, Taylor battled the Giddings Buffaloes to a 0-0 draw through 80 minutes of regulation before losing 4-3 in penalty kicks. The Ducks endured another narrow defeat on Saturday, Jan. 25, as Rockdale edged out a 1-0 win in a defensive contest.
With the losses, Taylor’s record dropped to 3-4-1 overall and 2-2 in district play. The Ducks will look to bounce back when they travel to Salado on Friday, Feb. 7.
GIRLS
The Taylor Lady Ducks had a stronger showing over the weekend, earning back-to-back wins against Giddings and Rockdale.
Taylor defeated Giddings 2-1 on Friday, Jan. 24, with goals from sophomore Kaylie Chavez and freshman Samantha Schroeder. On Saturday, Jan. 25, sophomore Analisa Arredondo delivered the game-winning goal as the Lady Ducks secured another 2-1 victory over Rockdale.
The Lady Ducks improved to 8-3-1 overall and remain undefeated in district play at 4-0. They return to action on Friday, Jan. 31, with an away match against Caldwell. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
