Lavella Cleone Engle passed away peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Elgin Nursing & Rehab at the age of 96. Cleone was a long-time resident of Taylor for more than 64 years.
She was born July 5, 1925, near Gatesville to Craig and Mamie Thomas.
She had four sisters.
She loved animals, especially dogs (dachshunds). She always had a dachshund on her lap.
She retired from Montgomery Wards and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Cleone looked forward to having her family gather for her birthday and holidays.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, husband Bert Engle and daughter Rosemary Faulkner.
Cleone is survived by her daughter, Susanne Engle Sebek; six grandchildren Quint Sebek (Tamara), Clay Sebek (Melissa), Quincy Koci, Shannon Faulkner (Ashley), Shane Faulkner (Kim) and Stefanie Faulkner; and 10 great-grandchildren, Devin Ashworth, Mason Sebek, Kirya Sebek, Kyler Sebek, Samantha Faulkner, Simon Faulkner, Sawyer Faulkner, Alissa Esquivel, Gabe Esquivel, Anthony Esquivel.
A memorial will be planned at a later date.
