The Granger Lions boys’ and girls’ basketball teams secured victories over the Holland Hornets on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Boys’ basketball
The Lions defeated the Hornets 56-50, bouncing back from a tough 71-32 loss to Thorndale last week. Senior guard Issac Campo led Granger with 20 points, while junior forward Kael Jackson added 14 and junior Kye Welles contributed 10. The Lions posted their fourthhighest point total of the season.
Granger improved to 11-8 overall and 3-1 in district play. The Lions will host Bartlett on Friday, Jan. 17, before traveling to Milano on Tuesday, Jan. 21, for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
Girls’ basketball
The Lady Lions extended their winning streak to five games with a dominant 58-30 victory over Holland. Granger, now a perfect 7-0 in district play, jumped to a 17-6 lead by the end of the first quarter and carried a 26-11 advantage into halftime. The Lady Lions’ offense exploded in the third quarter, scoring 21 points and cruising to the win.
The Lady Lions improved to 20-6 overall. They will also host Bartlett on Friday, Jan. 17, and travel to Milano on Tuesday, Jan. 21, with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
