The 10th annual Taylor Garden Club Run for the Roses 5K/10K takes off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, regardless of weather, organizers said.
Participants can choose between a 5K or 10K course and are welcome to bring strollers or dogs to the event in Murphy Park.
Entry fees for participants ages 18 and younger are $15 for the 5K and $20 for the 10K. For those ages 19 and older, the fees are $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Taylor Garden Club’s scholarship fund, which supports students pursuing careers in fields such as ecology, horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture, forestry and other plant-related studies.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners of each race, as well as the top finishers ages 40 and older.
The top performers in the stroller race, regardless of age, will also receive awards.
Walk-up registration will be available during packet pickup times, either the evening before the race, from 4-6 p.m., at 1705 W. Lake Drive, or one hour before the race near the start/finish line.
Packets may be picked up by someone other than the participant. Registration closes 15 minutes before the race begins.
The races will start and finish at the Murphy Park pavilion. Both the 5K and 10K will be chip timed.
Parking for the event is at the track lot between Sycamore and Davis streets; take the trail to the pavilion.
