The Taylor Ducks suffered a 52-37 loss to the Burnet Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 10, dropping to 0-3 in district play as they continue to search for their first victory.
Taylor fell behind early, trailing 9-2 at the end of the first quarter as the offense struggled to find its rhythm. The deficit grew before halftime, with Burnet capitalizing on a 17-4 run to take a commanding 26-6 lead into the break. While the Ducks’ offense came alive in the second half, scoring 31 points, the early hole proved too deep to overcome, and the Bulldogs secured the double-digit win.
Senior guard Sophia Fisher led the Ducks with 10 points but struggled with her shooting, going 4-of-18 from the field. Senior guard Mollie Kennick added 8 points, while freshman Samantha Schroeder contributed 6 points. As a team, Taylor shot just 25% from the field in the loss.
The Ducks will look to rebound on Tuesday, Jan. 14, when they face Marble Falls on the road. They return home to host Salado on Friday, Jan.
