STAFF REPORTS
Residents who wish to help guide the city by volunteering to serve on municipal boards and commissions are being invited to apply.
“Currently, the city has over 90 volunteers already contributing to the progress and development of Taylor,” according to a city release. “The city is continually looking for those interested in serving to submit applications for consideration when (the City) Council fills vacancies.”
A list of the current 13 boards and commissions along with descriptions of each can be found at taylortx.gov/813/Boards-Commissions.
Applications are also available on the website that can be completed online or dropped off at City Hall, 401 Porter St.
For more, contact the City Clerk’s office at 512-3523676.
Appointments are made in February and August by the council. Applications are accepted year-round.
According to the release, city boards and commissions offer residents a chance to lend their perspectives on various issues, ranging from historic preservation to economic development. These groups “play a vital role in advising City Council on making important decisions that affect the Taylor community,” the release stated.
“Our community thrives because of the dedication of our residents,” said City Manager Brian LaBorde. “By volunteering on a board or commission, residents have the opportunity to help shape the policies and programs that make Taylor a great place to live, work and grow.”
