The Taylor Ducks girls basketball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end with a 60-21 loss to the Franklin Lions on Friday, Dec. 27.

The Ducks struggled on both ends of the court, unable to match Franklin’s intensity.

Taylor tried to stay competitive early, cutting into an early 5-0 deficit with a 3-pointer from senior guard Zakaya Fredrick, making it 5-3. Fredrick finished with six points.

However, the Ducks then went on a scoring drought, allowing the Lions to reel off 21 unanswered points and extend the lead to 26-5. Junior guard Aubriana Alderete broke the dry spell with a 3-pointer, adding to her total of six points for the game.

The Ducks’ offensive struggles persisted in the second half, where they were outscored 34-13. Taylor’s top scorers, sophomore forward Tianna Candee and senior guard Sophia Fisher were held scoreless. The loss drops Taylor’s record to 8-13 on the season.

Taylor now turns its attention to district play, opening on the road against Lampasas on Friday, Jan. 3, at 6:30 p.m. The Badgers, sitting at 8-11, have also dealt with offensive inconsistency but enter the matchup on a twogame win streak. The Ducks will need a strong offensive performance to start district play with a victory.
