Students perform in Christmas piano recital

Anita Volek and Debbie Matthys presented

their students in a joint Christmas piano recital on Tuesday evening, Dec. 10, in the Worship Center of First Baptist Church on Mallard Lane. The evening of piano solos and duets featured traditional holiday favorites.

The recital began with a jazz duet of “White Christmas” performed by Demi Dahlberg and J. D. Morgan. Another highlight of the evening was a duet of “Silent Night,” featuring Solomon Eiben on violin and Sophia-Rae Eiben on piano.

Volek’s students participating in the musical festivities included Elsa Anderson, Demi Dahlberg, Scarlett Dahlberg, Sophia-Rae Eiben, Vivian Eiben, Juliette Havens, Allison Mahmood, J. D. Morgan, Grace Philhower and Lera Rost.

Matthys’ students included Edmund Cavender, Jacob Geske, Cora Mees, Evie Schneider and Jace Wilkins.

Volek closed the evening with a medley of “Silver Bells” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
