GEORGETOWN — A Taylor man is behind bars in the wake of a six-month narcotics investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Richard Alderete Jr., 39, is charged with the manufacture, delivery or distribution of methamphetamine; he was taken into custody Dec. 5, officials said.
He remained in the Williamson County Jail Friday, Dec. 13, in lieu of posting a $250,000 surety felony bond.
According to investigators, a search warrant served at a location on CR 365 in Taylor by the Williamson County Organized Crime Unit and a tactical team led to the man’s arrest and the recovery of suspected illicit narcotics, including 11.22 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, 5.9 ounces of methamphetamine pills and 1 gram of marijuana.
Officials also seized scales, plastic bags and a cell phone believed to belong to the suspect.
Law officers said Alderete had three active warrants at the time of his arrest, including for possession of a controlled substance, 1 to 4 grams; possession of drug paraphernalia; and an opencontainer violation.
His criminal history shows three previous drug charges in addition to other various filings, law-enforcement officials said.
Under Texas law, the manufacture, delivery or distribution of a controlled substance between 200 and 400 grams, which is an enhanced firstdegree felony, upon adjudication may result in 10 to 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $100,000.
