The Granger Lady Lions cruised past the Holland Hornets 48-19 in their district opener on Tuesday, Dec. 10, improving to 9-3 overall and 1-0 in district play.

Granger’s defense was dominant, holding the Hornets to single digits in every quarter. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 10-4 lead by the end of the first quarter and built on their momentum with fast-break points. Sophomore guard Jasmine Leamer scored four quick points to make it 17-4, and senior guard Sofia Bernal capped off the first half with a 3-pointer, sending Granger into halftime up 23-8.

Holland briefly cut the deficit to 26-14 in the third quarter, but sophomore forward Victoria Castillo’s 3-pointer stretched the lead to 29-15. The Lady Lions closed the game with their best offensive quarter, going on a 16-4 run fueled by 3-pointers from Bernal and Castillo.

The victory marked Granger’s eighth win in their last nine games, continuing their strong start to the season. The Lady Lions will be back on the court Tuesday, Dec. 17, when they travel to face Bartlett at 5:30 p.m.
