Taylor Ducks senior guard Sophia Fisher led her team to a 55-51 victory over the McCallum Knights on Friday, Dec. 6. Fisher finished with 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting.

Taylor’s offense started strong, with Fisher scoring twice to make it 4-3 early. The Ducks extended their lead to 12-8 late in the first quarter after a three-pointer by senior guard Molli Kennick.

The Knights fought back, tying the game at 14-14 in the second quarter, but two consecutive three-pointers by senior guard Zakaya Frederick sparked a 10-0 run that made it 24-14. McCallum responded, taking a 29-27 lead in the third quarter, but another three-pointer by Kennick put the Ducks back on top, 30-29. The Knights briefly regained the lead with a three-pointer to make it 37-34, but Taylor closed the game with a 12-4 run to secure the win.

Offensive rebounding was a key factor for the Ducks, who accounted for 15 offensive boards, leading to multiple second-chance points. Sophomore forward Tianna Candee led the effort with six offensive rebounds and 11 total rebounds on the night. Frederick and Kennick each contributed nine points.

The Ducks improved to 4-9 on the season after delivering their most complete performance to date. Taylor looks to build on this momentum when they host Ellison on Tuesday, Dec. 10, before traveling to compete in the Fairfield tournament on Dec. 12-14.
