‘Tis the season for community Christmas events, and the cities of Taylor and Hutto have quite the lineup of activities to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
The city of Taylor will celebrate the season with the annual Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The parade will begin at Murphy Park, and the route will follow Main Street from there to Heritage Square. Following the parade, a Tree Lighting celebration will be held at Heritage Square, complete with Santa, hot cocoa and live music.
The city of Hutto hosted its Tree Lighting and Drone Show downtown on Nov. 30, but the city has plenty of other holiday events to check off on the list, including the Light Up Your Night event, a Hippo Claus Crawl and a holiday market.
Light Up Your Night — the newest event added to the Holidays in Hutto lineup — will be open Dec. 5-29 at Adam Orgain Park, 1001 CR 137, Hutto. The hours of operation are 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Sunday and 6-10 p.m. on Saturdays. It will feature an interactive walking trail with over 100 light displays paired with festive sounds and music to create a magical experience for all ages. Admission to the trail is free, but guests are encouraged to bring canned goods to support local food banks or make donations to other local nonprofit organizations of their choice. Local nonprofits will also be on site with refreshments available for purchase.
Adults can don their favorite seasonal sweaters, holiday attire or a Santa suit and stroll through Downtown Hutto for the annual Hippo Claus Crawl on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 5 to 9 p.m., while drinking craft beverages.
Hutto’s Holiday Market will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Downtown Hutto will be turned into a classic winter market full of local vendors.
