Cub Scout Pack 167 is returning to Taylor after a long pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with an informational meeting to be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, located at 610 Fowzer St.

Parents and youth interested in enrolling or volunteering for the Cub Scout program are invited to attend the meeting, where they can meet pack leaders, learn about upcoming activities and sign up for membership, according to a news release.

Cub Scout Pack 167 will offer opportunities for both boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade “to develop essential life skills while learning about teamwork and self-confidence,” according to the release. Activities will include nature conservation, outdoor challenges and team-building games to help youth grow mentally and physically while enjoying the great outdoors.

Pack 167 had been an integral part of the Taylor community for over 60 years, with past activities including trips spending the night aboard the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, camping at NASA in Houston and exploring the Natural Science Museum in Dallas, according to the release.

“The pack’s revival focuses on reigniting a passion for exploration, teamwork and personal growth for boys and girls in the area, with an emphasis on outdoor play and fostering lasting friendships,” read the news release.

The pack is looking to recruit new members for youth and adults with a mission “to offer everyone the opportunity to explore the outdoors while building character, leadership skills and lifelong friendships,” according to the news release.
