LEAD TAYLOR
The City of Taylor is now accepting applications for their LEAD Taylor program — “a community-focused, collaborative program” that gives participants an in-depth, inside look at government operations, community planning, awareness and civic culture, according to a news release.
The city will host six classes from 12-5 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month from January until June 2025 at various locations, including Taylor City Council Chambers, Taylor Public Library and Taylor Independent School District. Participants will learn about how city government works, the operations of city departments and Taylor ISD, as well as the history of Taylor, the Taylor Chamber of Commerce, the Taylor Economic Development Corporation, civic organizations, Main Street and downtown businesses.
To be eligible to participate, individuals must be 18 years or older, must be a resident of Taylor or an employee of either the city of Taylor, Taylor ISD or Williamson County and cannot be running for political office during the program.
The first class will be held on Jan. 16, 2025, and applicants will be contacted the week of Jan. 1 with additional information and the class schedule.
Those interested in participating have until Dec. 31 to apply via the city’s website at taylortx. gov/838/LEAD-Taylor. For more information, call 512-352-5448 or email [email protected].
