This weekend is the last chance to get up to Georgetown to get a taste of Dolly Parton music while watching an interesting story.

Georgetown Palace Theatre will present “9-to-5 The Musical” until April 3 at the Springer Stage.

“9-to-5 The Musical,” with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is said to be outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.

According to the plot, three female coworkers bushed to the boiling point concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilariou turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot. While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taki control of the company that had always kept them down.

The production is directed by Emily Taylor, choreographed by Quinton Weathers, music-directed by David Blackburn, vocal-directed by Nick Xitco, set-designed by Sandra Lopez and lighting design is by Faith Castaneda. Costume design is by A Cut Above Costumes. Scenic art is by Barb Jernigan. Faith Castaneda is production stage manager, and Claire Warkentin is assistant stage manager.

This production will be presented inside at the Springer Stage, the Palace’s historic proscenium theatre on Austin Avenue. For all performances at the Springer Stage, Palace Playhouse and Smith Performance Center, masks will be encouraged for the health and safety of our performers, staff and patrons. Ticket prices are $36 for adult; $33 for seniors ages 55 and over, military and students; and $24 for student rush tickets at the door with student identification. All fees are included in ticket pricing.

Tickets are on sale now at http://www.getpalacetickets.com. The theatre will be seated at 100% capacity.

This season at the Palace includes “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Drowsy Chaperone,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” and more.
