Advance to second round
The Granger Lions dominated the La Pryor Bulldogs 49-6 in the first round of the playoffs on Friday, Nov. 15. Junior running back Caleb Hobratsch led the offense with 113 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Hobratsch opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown run to give the Lions a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter. Special teams contributed to the effort as junior Noah Hobratsch returned a 30-yard punt for a touchdown, breaking multiple tackles to put Granger ahead 22-0.
Junior running back Dylan Knippa added to the lead with a 43-yard touchdown run, helping the Lions build a commanding 42-6 advantage in the fourth quarter. Knippa finished with four carries for 65 yards and one touchdown.
Junior quarterback Wyatt Rochner passed for 51 yards and added several key runs, continuing to display his all-around skill set.
Granger advances to the second round of the playoffs, where they will face the La Villa Cardinals on Friday, Nov. 22. The Cardinals, who are averaging 30.6 points per game, are coming off a 42-20 victory over Louise. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Kenedy High School Stadium.
