Taylor Chamber recognized among top in the nation

The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center received a five-star Accreditation from the United States Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 14 — the highest honor available for local chambers, according to a news release.

The Chamber was recognized for its policies, organizational procedures and positive impact on the community.

“We are excited by this recognition and feel validated that our program of work is among the top 3% of chambers in the nation,” GTCC President and CEO Tia Rae Stone said in the release. “This would never have been possible without our strong board of directors and countless volunteers who have worked to strengthen and transform our Chamber into a topnotch professional organization.”

Accreditation recognizes chambers for their community involvement and effective organizational procedures, and is the sole national program to do so. To receive Accreditation, chambers must meet minimum requirements and standards in their programs and operations, including governance, government affairs and technology.

The review takes six to nine months to complete, according to the release.

“Each day, chambers of commerce are working hard to put the American dream within reach of every hardworking business owner,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber vice president of Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management, in the release. “The Accreditation designation tells chamber members as well as the greater business community, this is an organization that has effective programs, sound finances and is a strong advocate for their interests.”

The U.S. Chamber also recognized the GTCC’s efforts to address area residents and community needs with the launch of the Greater Taylor Foundation, its partnership with the Community Organizations Active in Disaster group, the Creating a Path Forward program, candidate forums and its pre-legislative and growth summits, according to the news release.

We are excited by this recognition and feel validated that our program of work is among the top 3% of chambers in the nation.”
