Ninth annual Salute to the Troops event held at Moody Museum

Ninth annual Salute to the Troops event held at Moody Museum

The Moody Museum held its 9th annual Salute to the Troops Sunday, Nov. 10, with more than 50 people in attendance.

This year’s guest speaker was Major General William Ryan, Commanding General, First Army — Division West, Fort Cavazos.

The event this year was commemorating the 80th anniversary of two of the major battles of World War II — the D-Day Invasion, which took place in June, and the Battle of the Bulge, which took place in December.

General Ryan spoke about visiting Normandy for the 80th anniversary commemoration in June and told stories of individual servicemen who participated in that battle.

Prior to General Ryan’s speech, the Taylor Fire Department raised the flag and Renvie Crain sang the National Anthem.

Following General Ryan’s remarks those in attendance went into the museum to see the military exhibits and enjoy refreshments provided by the Friends of the Moody Museum.
