The St. Mary’s Rams six-man football team lost in the state semifinals 55-9 to the Faustina Academy Falcons on Friday, Nov. 8. The Rams finished the season 3-6 overall and 3-1 in district play. The Falcons proved too much for St.
Mary’s, overwhelming them from start to finish. Faustina scored at will, while the Rams’ offense struggled to put points on the board. Senior Ty Zimmerhanzel still managed to be productive, accounting for the team’s only touchdown and 102 rushing yards. Zimmerhanzel capped off a stellar season with 2,577 all-purpose yards and 44 total touchdowns.
The Falcons’ top performers were senior Damien Sipe and junior Adrian Medina. Sipe recorded 204 yards and four touchdowns, while Medina tallied 81 passing yards and one touchdown. Despite the disappointing end to the season, the Rams fought hard all year with standout performances from senior Ethan Britten and senior quarterback Kolbe Barta.
Britten accumulated over 1,000 total yards, while Barta threw for 466 yards and four touchdowns.
