The Granger Lions varsity football team will face the La Pryor Bulldogs in the first round of the playoffs on Friday, Nov. 15.
The Lions are coming off a 40-20 victory over Burton, while the Bulldogs defeated Lock Springs 44-6 last week. Granger has been on a roll in recent weeks, winning the past two games by at least 20 points. The Lions will look to carry this momentum into the matchup, with the offense averaging 29 points per game this season.
Junior quarterback Wyatt Rochner and junior running back Caleb Hobratsch lead the offense, relying heavily on the rushing attack. This hasn’t stopped Rochner from making plays in the passing game; he had his best game against Snook, throwing for 119 yards and three touchdowns.
The Lions’ defense has also been strong and will face a Bulldogs’ offense that averages 21 points per game.
La Pryor leans on its run game, with senior running back Jayden Patino averaging 106 rushing yards per game. The Lions’ defensive line will be tested by the Bulldogs’ capable ground game.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Johnson City Eagle Football Stadium.
