Moody Museum to salute veterans Sunday at annual event

The Moody Museum will honor all veterans and their families at the annual Salute to Veterans at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at the museum, located at 114 W. Ninth St., Taylor.

This year’s event will feature special guest speaker Major General Ryan, Commanding General, First Army — Division West, Fort Cavazos.

All veterans will be honored during the event, but each year, the event also honors a special military event. This year the event will honor the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion during World War II. Guest speaker Major General Ryan made a trip to the site of the D-Day Invasion in Normandy recently, which he will discuss during his speech.

Following a flag raising and the singing of the National Anthem, Major General Ryan will speak, and then visitors can tour the museum to see displays of shadowboxes made my veterans and other military memorabilia.

All veterans and their families are invited to create shadow boxes to tell the stories of their military services, which will be displayed in the museum during the event. For more information, email [email protected].

The Moody Museum is also in need of other military memorbilia to display during the event. Those with items can contact the museum at 512365-7396.
