The St. Mary’s Rams six-man football team defeated St. Paul’s Prep Lions 61-12 on Friday, Oct.
25, to close out the regular season with a 3-5 overall record and a 3-1 record in district play.
Offensively, St. Mary’s looked unstoppable, scoring a seasonhigh in points. Senior all-purpose player Ty Zimmerhanzel delivered another stellar performance, totaling 315 yards and five touchdowns. Other key contributors included senior running back Ethan Britten, who logged 54 yards and two scores, and senior quarterback Kolbe Barta, who added a rushing touchdown.
With this win, the Rams secured the second seed in the district, finishing behind Methodist Children’s Home. St. Mary’s now prepares for the playoffs, marking their third consecutive postseason appearance. The Rams will face an opponent to be determined in the state semifinals on Nov. 8.
