Dear Editor,
A while ago, I came across an editorial where the author’s contention was that while Trump is not a very clever criminal, what he excels at is corrupting things. I agree.
He is corrupt in business, having been convicted on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records. He’s filed for bankruptcy six times. (Do we really want him near something as complex as the American economy?)
Trump has corrupted the Republican Party — those not repeating his lies, grievances and conspiracy theories need not apply.
Most alarming is how he managed to corrupt the Supreme Court. His three hand-picked conservative justices have allowed that court to hand down decisions very much out of step with the great majority of Americans on issues like abortion and presidential immunity, the latter ruling being very beneficial to Trump.
A case can be made that Trump has corrupted all the pending legal cases against him by using the ultimate “weapon of mass corruption” — money. His endless supply of cash has enabled him to hire armies of lawyers to file endless motions to delay everything.
We live in momentous times. Now is the time for all Americans to ask themselves, “Have I allowed this person to corrupt the way I think of my country?”
I, for one, do not believe America is a “failed nation.”
