Fifteen-year- old Kingston Wilson crossed the finish line first at Saturday’s Good Life 5K, snagging top honors for a winning time of 16:54 for the annual race.

About 200 people showed up to run or walk the streets and sidewalks around Bull Branch Park and raise money for Taylor fitness initiatives, during the event hosted by Good Life Taylor, Texas.

“We organize this whole event … to help with parks and family-fitness accessibility here in Taylor,” said volunteer coordinator Audrey Blum. “It’s amazing. I love seeing the people out here with their kids. My kids are out here having a great time. It’s a really good thing to be a part of.”

Since 2012, the nonprofit has donated more than $300,000 to projects that help residents live “the good life.”

Some of those initiatives include Murphy Park Percussion Park, Bull Branch Disc Golf Course, Murphy Park and Taylor Regional Park playgrounds, and most recently, fitness equipment at Memorial Field. In addition to the 5K race, the event included vendors, face painting, giveaways, “chicken bingo” (a game that involves hoping for a live chicken to defecate on a specific number) and a kids’ race.

It concluded with a freefor- all confetti-egg melee open to all ages.
