The St. Mary’s Lady Rams volleyball team defeated Memorial Christian Academy 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 10, snapping a four-game losing streak and earning their first district win of the season.
It was a competitive matchup, with St.
Mary’s splitting the first two sets, winning 25-17 before losing 25-20. The Lady Rams then took the next set 25-19 and closed out the game with a 25-23 victory in the final set.
Top performers for St. Mary’s included junior middle hitters Mercy Barta and Adriana Flores, with Barta recording five kills and Flores adding four. Other notable players were junior Sydney Zimmerhanzel, who had 13 aces, and sophomore outside hitter Demetria Dahlberg, who tallied 12 digs.
Senior setter Alicia Montoya led Memorial Christian Academy with six kills. The Lady Rams will look to build on this win when they host Grace Academy on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m.
