The Thrall Tigerettes varsity volleyball team fell in straight sets, 3-0, to the Franklin Lions on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
The loss snapped the Tigerettes' six-game winning streak, dropping their overall record to 22-8 and their district record to 5-2.
The first set was tied at 9-9 before Franklin went on a 16-7 run to win 25-16. The next two sets were highly competitive. Thrall held a 22-21 lead in the second set, but Franklin responded with a 4-0 run to win 25-22. In the third set, the Tigerettes had a 20-18 lead, but couldn’t hold on, losing 25-21.
Thrall’s top performers this season have been senior outside hitter Amber Kevil, junior defensive specialist Kinley Hoffman and senior setter Emily Holybee. The Tigerettes entered the match ranked No. 13 in Class 3A Texas volleyball by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
Thrall will look to rebound when they host Lexington on Friday, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m., followed by a home match against Rockdale on Friday, Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m.
