The Hutto Hippos varsity volleyball team was defeated in straight sets 3-0 by the Vista Ridge Rangers on Tuesday, Oct. 1. This loss continues a rough patch for the Hippos, as they have now lost four of their last six matchups.
The match started competitively as Hutto fell in the first set 25-20 but soon took a turn for the worse, as the Rangers dominated sets two and three, winning by a combined score of 50-25. For the Hippos, this is the fourth time they have been swept in district play, with previous losses to Round Rock, Stony Point and Vandegrift.
Top performers for Hutto have been senior setter Isabella Orton, senior middle hitter Delijah Bedford and senior libero Macie Atkinson. The Hippos are now .500 on the season with a 17-17 overall record and 5-4 in district play.
Hutto will look to bounce back as they host McNeil on Tuesday, Oct. 8 before traveling to Cedar Ridge on Friday, Oct. 11. Both games are set for 6:30 p.m.
