Three Takeaways

Taylor Ducks senior quarterback Eli Laurence has earned his spot

The Taylor Ducks have entered the past couple of games with a question mark at quarterback as head coach Earven Flowers has been rotating Laurence, freshman Johnny Guzman, and sophomore Caleb Pachicano to find answers. This past Friday, it was evident that Laurence is the Ducks' most consistent signal-caller, throwing for 177 yards and totaling two touchdowns as Taylor got its first win of the season against Manor New Tech. Laurence proved he should be the starting quarterback moving forward as the Ducks host Austin Achieve on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m.

Granger is starting to get hot

The Granger Lions had a disappointing start to the season, falling to 0-2 in their first two games. Now, with the help of junior quarterback Wyatt Rochner and junior running back Caleb Hobratsch, the Lions are on a roll, winning two straight games dominantly. The ground game will determine this team's success, as last week Granger accounted for six rushing touchdowns in a 43-23 win over Bartlett, improving to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in district play.

Thrall bounced back in a big way

The Thrall Tigers rebounded with a 62-28 win over Johnson City after being blown out the previous week by Troy. This is great news for the Tigers, as their offense continued to look dominant with senior quarterback Chance Parker leading the charge, accounting for four total touchdowns. The Tigers have one more non-district matchup, going on the road to face Hempstead on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m.
