Sybil Josephine Pustejovsky passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

Sybil was born Oct. 22, 1927, at home in Granger, the first daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth Pustejovsky.

She was a lifelong member of S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. She attended SSCM school and graduated from Granger High School, where she played volleyball and was a cheerleader.

After working briefly at Camp Swift and as a telephone operator, she became a teller at First State Bank and retired from there after 38 years of service.

Sybil loved having a good time with friends and family, whether it was fishing on the lake, charter bus trips to see the Cowboys’ games or eating Mexican food with cold beer at El Mat’s. She especially enjoyed traveling with the Granger Roadrunners.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard, Raymond, E.C. (Poochie), and Joe Pustejovsky; and her lifelong cherished friend, Albert J. Simcik.

She is survived by her sisters, Betty Hajda and Tracy Yates; as well as sisters-in-law, Margie and Anne Pustejovsky; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers include all her nephews and Leslie Michalik.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Traditions Health Hospice Care and Will-O-Bell Nursing Facility in Bartlett for their excellent care of Sybil in her last days.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at SSCM with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2 p.m. Private family burial will follow.
