Raymond Daniel Mokry, 77, of Taylor, left this world to join the Lord Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

Raymond was born to Frank and Annie Mokry Feb. 23, 1945, at Swanson Hospital in Taylor.

He was the second youngest child, raised on a farm in Granger, along with one sister and six brothers.

He graduated from Granger High School in 1963, and married the love of his life, Nancy Malish, Nov. 24, 1963, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Nancy and Raymond were blessed with three children, James, Deana and Janlyn. He cherished his family and worked hard to provide and take care of them. Raymond farmed

Raymond farmed and held several jobs in sales and manufacturing before starting his career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed his work, which allowed him to connect with so many people throughout the community. His kind demeanor and friendly nature was recognized by everyone he met.

He retired from the Taylor Post Office in 2014, after 48 years of dedicated service.

Raymond enjoyed dancing, taking care of the cars he loved, visiting casinos and spending time at home with his family. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, and served as a lector for many years, and loved the Lord faithfully his entire life.

Raymond was preceded in death by the following immediate family members, his parents, five siblings, Frank, Gertrude (G Ann), Gilbert Sr., Alfred and a baby sister that died at birth.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy; children, James Mokry and wife Annette, Deana McLeroy and husband Warren, and Janlyn Reed and husband Bill; four grandchildren, Hailey Heeke and husband Brian, McKenna Mokry, Quade Mokry and Caleb McLeroy; and two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Rylie Heeke. He is also survived by his brothers, Bernard and wife Shirley, Andrew Mokry, Alfonse Mokry and wife Barbara; sister-in-law, Linda Wentrcek and husband Jimmy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, at Providence Funeral Home, with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Services will be held at noon Saturday, April 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
